On April 12, Budimex made its debut in the Łukasiewicz INNOVATOR index, created by the joint-stock companies that develop their potential in cooperation with the Polish scientific sector.
There is no need to convince anyone that sports activity is extremely important for maintaining physical and mental health. However, despite the widespread awareness, the reason most often mentioned by Poles to lead a passive lifestyle is the lack of motivation, which has recently been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is why Budimex decided to activate its employees by inviting them to sports competitions as part of "Budimagedon".
Implementation of the SAFEWAY project (eng. Safe way) Budimex SA started in September 2018. It is a project financed by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 program. The project involves the creation of an online platform based on a geographic information system (GIS) used to process and distribute the data among public administration authorities, infrastructure managers, passengers and transport companies – all of the users of such transport networks as roads, railways, airports and seaports. The implementation of the planned 10 task packages will take 42 months and end in 2022. Budimex SA, as a partner of Ferrovial Construction, is taking part in four of them.
On April 6, Dariusz Blocher – the President of Budimex SA – submitted his resignation from the position of President of the Management Board to the Supervisory Board. This is a planned decision and is related to his further professional development after twelve years as the leader of Budimex.
The House from the Heart for Magda and her large family from Wierzbica near Radomsko has been completed! On Friday, 26 March, we officially handed over the keys. All project partners, stakeholders and the media were invited to join the event. The family will be able to move into their new home before Easter.
Budimex S.A. and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology are carrying out the SeHePa project entitled “The development and implementation of an innovative technology of self-repairing and highly durable asphalt surfaces”.
This Easter will be especially joyful for Magda and her children.
During the next construction stage, platforms no. 6 and no. 7 for long distance lines will be out of service. Budimex S.A. will dismantle the platforms and the neighbouring tracks. Construction work makes it necessary to shut down railway traffic on one out of two tracks of the long distance line between Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa Centralna. Trains will use only one track on the ring railway line from Warszawa Zachodnia to Warszawa Wola.
Budimex signed a contract to build the Environment and Innovative Food Technology Research Centre for the Quality of Life of the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn.
Corporate social responsibility is one of the strategic pillars of the activity of Budimex in Poland. In 2021, the leader of the construction industry will start implementing its new CSR strategy. In the years 2021-2023, Budimex will actively reduce its negative impact on the environment and climate, ensure the highest standards of occupational health and safety on all construction sites and develop social programmes and relations with local communities.
The initiative of the Central Office of National Certification (CBCK) is aimed at selecting companies that are distinguished by their reliability in terms of employment policy, employee solutions, and human resources management. These companies are trustworthy enterprises that take care of the development of employees and ensure stable employment and a friendly atmosphere at work.
On 22 February 2021, Budimex signed a contract for comprehensive construction and installation work related to the reconstruction of the hospital at ul. Stanisława Staszica in Lublin. The contract is performed as part of the project entitled “Reconstruction and extension of the Autonomous Public Teaching Hospital No. 1 in Lublin”, which Budimex has been carrying out since October 2019. The signed contract, worth over PLN 94 million, is the third stage of construction work, scheduled to continue until 30 May 2022.

The research works under the project “Optimizing the asphalt paving of roads through the use of modified asphalt” have been completed. The results show that the developed concepts of road construction with the Highly Modified Asphalt (HiMA) allow the construction of more durable and cheaper roads. Including this technology in the “Catalogue of Typical Flexible and Semi-rigid Pavements” will make it more accessible to road designers and contractors. This is a new chapter in the development of roads in Poland.
As a result of negotiations started in December 2020, Budimex S.A. decided to conclude a conditional contract to sell all shares in Budimex Nieruchomości Sp. z o.o. The agreed value of the transaction amounts to PLN 1 billion 513 million. The purchaser is CP Developer S.ar.l., a company set up for the purpose of concluding the contract by entities related to the company: Cornerstone Partners sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Warsaw and Crestyl Real Estate s.r.o. with its registered office in Prague. In our opinion, the transaction parameters reached in the course of negotiations are beneficial for both parties.
From Sunday, February 14, another extended stage of works requires changes in the access to the Warszawa Zachodnia station from the Wola side (ul. Tunelowa). Access from Aleje Jerozolimskie remains unchanged. Train services at the station will be maintained. More information for passengers will be provided. The redevelopment of Warszawa Zachodnia will offer better travel and passenger services at one of the capital's largest stations.
Construction work is under way at the Warszawa Zachodnia station, carried out by Budimex for PKP PLK. The general contractor, as part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (OPI 5.1-13 and OPI 6.1-22), is responsible for the redevelopment of the station and the construction of an underground space for a future tram stop under the station.
Budimex has signed an agreement with the City of Rzeszów and PKP SA at the Ministry of State Assets for the modification of the transport network as part of the construction of the Rzeszów Communication Centre and the redevelopment of the Rzeszów Główny railway station building. The contracts are worth nearly PLN 74 million.
Works connected with the extension of the Silesian Planetarium in Chorzów are underway. The investment has a net value of PLN 74.5 million and includes the modernisation of the existing facilities and the construction of a new part of the building. In comparison with the planetarium in its previous form, the new one will be more than 3 thousand square metres larger. The construction is continuing normally, despite the winter break – the progress of the modernisation and extension of the facility has reached almost 50%. The contractual deadline for the completion of construction works expires at the end of August 2021.
On 29 January (Friday) Budimex will hand over the second part of the Biskupia Górka viaduct, in the centre of Gdańsk. This means that the vehicle and pedestrian traffic will meet the target arrangement, i.e. along two lanes in each direction. Works on the left road included the demolition of the existing viaduct and the construction of a new one, as well as the reconstruction of the road and the accompanying sector infrastructure.
