After nine months of work, progress on the modernisation of Elk station has reached 40 per cent. On average, around 140 units of equipment and nearly 400 people work on the site every day.
Construction work is currently underway on the viaducts, railway tracks and overhead lines. Construction of a new tunnel under the platforms is underway. Three new passenger platforms have already been constructed (two at the Ełk station and one at Ełk Szuba). A Local Rail Traffic Control Centre is also under construction.
Construction work at Ełk station is fully underway. Work is in progress practically along the entire length of the station – says Maciej Olek – Director of Budimex's Railway Construction Division. We signed the contract for the design and build system to modernise Ełk station on 26 August 2021. The order execution period is 28 months. The warranty period is 5 years. After Czechowice Dziedzice and Warszawa Zachodnia stations, the Ełk node is another one executed by Budimex S.A. – adds Maciej Olek.
