The first project of the Budimex Group in the gaseous fuels market

News date: November 21, 2016

A consortium made up of Budimex SA (leader) and Mostostal Kraków SA will build a Czeszów–Kiełczów high pressure gas pipeline in the Lower Silesia region, contracted by Gaz–System SA. The distribution network with a diameter of 1000mm will be 33-kilometres long.

The contract was signed on 17 November 2016. The gross value of the contract is nearly PLN 78.5 million. The scope of work includes the construction of a high-pressure pipeline with infrastructure necessary to operate it, upgrading and construction of two process facilities along the pipeline and installation of a temporary lock in and output of the pistons Budimex has 19 months to complete the project.

Last year, the company started to tender for contracts on the gaseous fuels market. The company appointed a team of specialists experienced in contracting and building gas distribution systems. It was the only company from outside the gas sector that positively completed all pre-qualifications announced by GAZ SYSTEM SA. This enabled it to participate in tenders on the market. Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex, is clearly satisfied with the contract: “I am very happy with the contract awarded by Poland’s leading gas pipeline operator and the fact that this investment will increase Poland's energy security.”

The construction of the pipeline will cross forests, farming and partly urbanised areas. As a contractor, Budimex will be responsible for tree logging in accordance with the environmental permit, for sapper works and archaeological supervision along the pipeline.

The Czeszów–Kiełczów pipeline is part of an extension of the gas distribution system in the Lower Silesia region and the assumed investment programme related to the launch of the LNG terminal  in Świnoujście as well as the development of the North–South Gas Corridor.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.
