News date: December 9, 2022
Supports for the new bridge in Warsaw will be ready by the end of 2022.

The progress of construction of the structure supporting the new bridge over the Vistula has exceeded 52 per cent. Concreting of the support structure on the river is currently underway. The supports of the new bridge in Warsaw will be ready by the end of 2022.

The supports on both banks of the Vistula are ready. The first to be fully completed were the five land supports. Labelled P1, P1a, P5, P6 and P7, the structures (the first two on the Vistula boulevards, the others on the Praga bank of the Vistula) have been ready since the end of the summer holidays. Their pillars are the easiest to spot for people who pass close to the construction. On the Praga side, concreting of the retaining wall at support P7 has also been completed. Once the concrete has set properly, the 133 m long wall will be waterproofed and partially covered with earth (with the so-called engineering backfill).

Work will also be carried out during the winter period. More than 40 machines are working on the site every day. The work is being carried out from both water and land.

All supports should be ready by the end of the year. The works in 2023 will involve the installation of the steel structure (the bridge's superstructure), followed by the finishing works, i.e. the laying of the crossing's surface-insulation and the installation of the bridge's fittings, including balustrades, benches, cameras and lighting.
