Progress of the construction on the Warszawa Zachodnia train station

Budimex – the general contractor of the new Warszawa Zachodnia station, moved on to another key stage of the construction – railway and bridge works on the west side of the train station. Moreover, a new platform no. 8 was opened. The construction works in the tunnel connecting platforms 1-8 with platform no. 9 of the perimeter line are almost completed. On the west side of the station, two concrete bridge structures are being built, with a total volume of 30,000 m3. In these places, a completely new railway and turnout system will be constructed, which will guarantee increased capacity of the west and eastbound trains. The current progress of the works has already exceeded 38%.

The works on Warszawa Zachodnia are one of the largest investments by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., of over PLN 1.9 billion net. The project is implemented under POIiŚ 5.1-13, entitled: “Works on the Warsaw cross-city line between Warszawa Wschodnia and Warszawa Zachodnia”.  The works began in December 2020. The construction is scheduled for completion in 2023.

Warszawa Zachodnia is a strategic station in Poland in terms of the number of trains running there. On average, about 1,000 agglomerative, regional, long-distance national and international trains pass through it every day.
