Lidl and Budimex launch the largest distribution centre in Poland

This is the largest Lidl distribution centre in Poland and the most innovative in Europe. The scale of the investment can be assessed by the quantity of materials used in its construction: 100 km of cables and wires, over 41,000 m2 of sandwich panels, sufficient to insulate 200 houses, and 58,000 m2 of flooring, an area comparable to over 5 football fields!

The warehouse design is unique in that it is adapted to the technology of goods storage and distribution. It is a two-storey building with a single-storey part dedicated to high storage and a two-storey part to low storage. The new Lidl Distribution Centre comprises a rectangular hall that connects to the reception and shipment building as well as the workshop building. The two-storey section of the facility occupies an area of approx. 28,000 m2 and the single-storey section that is designed for high storage covers approx. 30,000 m2. Total usable floor space in the facility is approx. 58,000 m2. Administrative and social spaces are located on the first floor in the north-eastern part of the building. The total building volume is 726,000 m3, close to that of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw!

The investment is impressive with its impetus

The ecological aspects have not been overlooked either - the building is in the process of obtaining the prestigious LEED certificate, which proves that it meets high standards related to energy saving and environmental protection. The assessment is based on five main criteria, including the efficiency of water management, use of energy and the quality of the internal environment. Innovation in design is an additional criterion. The level of certification is based on the total number of points awarded to a facility.
