Hospital in Wejherowo has its Parent Zone!

On 21 October 2020, the Florian Ceynowa Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo received a comfortable area for play and relaxation for its youngest patients and their carers. It was created as part of a social programme run since 2013. Its aim is to improve the comfort and speed up the recuperation of children staying in paediatric wards in Polish hospitals. To ensure compliance with all precautionary and safety measures, the zone was opened remotely, without the presence of journalists or guests.

“The Parent Zone in the Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo is the 34th comfortable location on the map of Polish hospitals. The programme has been run since 2013 and the greatest gift for us is knowing that the interiors we create have a real impact on the comfort of hospitalised children and their carers,”  says Katarzyna Wójcik, Communication Expert in Budimex.

The latest Parent Zone was opened in the paediatric ward of the Florian Ceynowa Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo. This separate space for play and relaxation was inspired by the circus. The youngest patients were given a wooden theatre on wheels, a play table, shelves with toys and a drawing wall covered with blackboard paint. In the corner, there are folding chairs for parents. Moreover, in response to the needs of the hospital, there is now a fully equipped bathroom next to the Parent Zone.

Employees and volunteers from Budimex also contributed to the opening of the Parent Zone. They have been involved in the programme ever since its beginning. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were not present on site, but they donated many toys to the youngest patients. In consultation with the hospital, they chose toys that are durable and can be disinfected easily.

Work on the Parent Zone was conducted in compliance with all restrictions and guidelines of the Ministry of Health. We made sure to observe all safety measures to take care of patients, hospital staff and construction workers.
