Commencing Construction of the Łagiewniki Road [Trasa Łagiewnicka]

Consortium of Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman will carry out one of the most important investments in the coming years in Kraków — the Łagiewniki Road.

The consortium signed the contract with Trasa Łagiewnicka SA on 17 March 2017. Its gross value amounts to PLN 802 million. Today, the investor signed agreements for financing of the road project with the European Investment Bank and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

The construction of Łagiewniki Road will start at the crossing with ul. Grota-Roweckiego and end at the crossing with ul. Beskidzka and ul. Halszki. This is a 3.5 km long section. The project includes also construction of a 2.5 km long tram route. The road will connect Ruczaj housing estate and ul. Zakopiańska with Wola Duchacka and Kurdwanów housing estates. Budimex will carry out the investment as “design and build”.

- The Łagiewniki Road is one of the most important investments in Kraków in the coming years. Its key element is a tram line connecting Kurdwanów housing estate with ul. Zakopiańska. Moreover, construction of the Łagiewniki Road gives a possibility of construction the western section of the so-called 3rd Kraków ring road comprising Pychowicka Road and Zwierzyniecka Road. The project will have an effect on reducing traffic in the heart of Kraków — including the “Trzech Wieszczów” avenues — and take over some of the traffic between districts from the centre, resulting in reduction of emissions. That is why I am happy that such an important project for the inhabitants of Kraków can benefit from the help from government authorities as well as from the European Investment Bank. I believe that the cooperation on implementation of the Kraków investment programme both with the Polish government and international financial institutions will be continued — highlighted Jacek Majchrowski, Mayor of Kraków.

The works will continue until the end of December 2020.

Project scope:

  • construction of dual carriageway road with the length of ca. 3,500 m, carriageway width of 2x7.0 m and 2x10.5 m,
