Budimex receives a state-of-the-art UNIMAT tamping machine

The state-of-the-art UNIMAT 09-4x8/4s Dynamic tamping machine manufactured by Plasser & Theurer was officially presented and taken over by Budimex Kolejnictwo S.A. during the TRAKO 2021 International Fair. The ceremonial handover of the commemorative plate was attended by Max Theurer, the owner of Plasser&Theurer, and Jarosław Żyliński, President of Budimex Kolejnictwo S.A.

Unimat 09-4x8/4s Dynamic is the largest cutting-edge high-efficiency track maintenance machine manufactured in Europe, used for retamping and switch tamping. Additionally two integrated GDS units allow dynamic track stabilisation directly after tamping. The machine is almost 50 metres long and weighs 189 tonnes!

This tamping machine is the most highly efficient piece of equipment for track work owned by Budimex Kolejnictwo S.A. — it is joined by a new USP 2010 SWS ballast undercutting machine that was recently delivered. Currently the equipment resources include, but are not limited to: 3 tamping machines, 2 ballast undercutting machines, a dynamic track stabiliser, a diesel locomotive, a hydraulic rail trolley, a two-way rail welding machine, 60 special cars and many others.

In total, Budimex will have over 80 units of rolling stock and track machines. The investment in new equipment costs PLN 129 million.
