Budimex is going to build the Sztabin ring road

On 28 May 2021, Budimex signed a contract for the Sztabin ring road with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Branch in Białystok. The ring road will be 4.2 km long. The investment is being implemented under the design and build system. Its value exceeds PLN 134 million net.

The ring road will be built as part of national road 8, leading from Białystok to the border with Lithuania. The ring road will make it possible to bypass Sztabin on the east, and will increase security, improve transport and keep transit traffic out of the town.

As part of the ring road, Budimex will build a trestle bridge with 11 spans and a length of over 600 m. It will go over the valley of the Biebrza River and Biebrza National Park. “Due to the special location of this route, the project involves modern technological solutions. Their aim is to increase the security of valuable natural areas in the Biebrza Valley and the national park”, says Artur Popko, President of the Management Board of Budimex S.A.

Budimex will build a 1x2 road: a single carriageway with two lanes, one for each direction. Moreover, there will be three intersections, including two roundabouts, an overpass along district road 1228B, and a route for pedestrians and cyclists. There will also be one overpass and three smaller crossings for animals.

It is yet another project to be carried out by Budimex in Podlaskie Province. Similarly to a neighbouring project, which is the Suchowola ring road designed by Budimex, it is being carried out as part of a governmental plan to build 100 ring roads.
