On 8 November our company was visited by an extraordinary guest: an outstanding Polish illustrator and painter – Józef Wilkoń.

His visit was related to Budimex providing sponsorship for the publication of an edition of “Don Kichote” illustrated by the Master. This unique, two-volume edition of “Don Kichote” was published on the four-hundredth anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616) – the prince of Spanish literature. Józef Wilkoń created his first illustrations for “Don Kichote” more than fifty years ago. However, only in 2015 and 2016, invited by Fundacja Chain, he created a new, enormously rich collection of works. A hundred of those were included in the anniversary edition of the novel. The illustrations feature realism as well as incredible fairylikeness. Some delight with the richness of colours, while others are monochrome. Portraits can be seen next to collective scenes, and close shots are intertwined with far-reaching landscapes. In his artistic tales Józef Wilkoń uses different painting styles and techniques.

During the meeting with the President of Budimex, Dariusz Blocher, the artist signed a number of copies of “Don Kichote”.
