Bouygues TC and Budimex sign an agreement for a nuclear power plant

An agreement on the possibility of cooperation between Bouygues Travaux Publics and Budimex S.A. in the construction of a nuclear power plant was signed on 22 June 2022.

Bouygues Travaux Publics is a company which has for many years worked with EDF in the construction of nuclear power plants all over the world, and in the case of the first nuclear power plant in Poland by EDF it will be responsible for implementing the construction.

As the biggest construction company in Poland, Budimex will complement Bouygues Travaux Publics in implementing the scope of the construction works. A large equipment source, a well-established position on the Polish market, as well as competencies and experience in the scope of implementing the largest projects while preserving the highest quality and OHS standards is undoubtedly why Bouygues Travaux Publics chose Budimex as its potential partner.

The French offer for constructing the European Pressurized Reactors (EPR) for the Polish nuclear program has strong support from the French government. “We want Poland to be a part of the EDF strategy and the European supply chain,” said Vakis Romany, Vice-president of the EDF, during a conference.”

The potential nuclear power plant project will be implemented by the Division of Power Engineering and Industrial Construction at Budimex SA, which has implemented several energy investments in Poland and Lithuania. The biggest one was constructing a new power unit for the Turów Power Plant with a power output of 496 MW for the PGE Group, completed in 2021. The same division has also completed certain sections of the Baltic Pipe for Gaz System.
