Description of the project

The consortium Mitsubishi Hitachi Power SystemsEuropeGmbH (MHPSE), Budimex S.A. and TécnicasReunidas, S.A., is setting up a highly efficient lignitepower plant for Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) inthe mining and generation complex at Turów (Poland).


The lignite unit will have a gross capacity of just under 500 MW and an efficiency of over 43 %. As such, the plant will rank amongst the most modern in Europe. MHPSE is to supply the utility steam generator, theentire flue gas cleaning equipment, piping, turbine /generator, the overriding instrumentation & control andwill place the power plant into service. Consortium partners Budimex S.A. (Poland) and Técnicas Reunidas,S.A. (Spain) are responsible for construction / erection, the cooling tower, general electrical engineering, steelstructures, ducts and some balance-of-plant.


The unitis to be built on an existing power plant site on which sixpower plant units with 1,500 MW of installed capacityare located. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremonyfor the power plant took place in May 2015.
