The railway station in Bydgoszcz has been topped out

Works on the construction site of the railway station in Bydgoszcz are proceeding in accordance with the plan. After less than eleven months since the contract was signed, almost 60% of works have been finished. The contractor of the project worth PLN 134 million is a consortium of Budimex (consortium leader, 90 percent of shares) and Lech, a company from Bydgoszcz.
The demolished old railway station is being substituted by a modern, five-storey building (with one underground storey) with glass facade. The building is already in a core and shell state; at present, fit-out, installation and facade works are being carried out. The railway station is planned to be opened in August this year, when it will be in a suitable state to service travellers. The remaining fit-out works inside the building will finish in November 2015.
In June this year, the renovation and revitalization of the historic island railway station, located between platforms 3 and 4, will be accomplished. This four-storey building was constructed in the middle of the 19th century. Currently, fit-out and facade works are being carried out. The renovated island railway station will regain its characteristic, dual-pitched roof with clock towers. The client plans to make the building available to travellers in the second half of July.
Platforms 2, 4a and 4 with adjacent tracks have already been renovated. Construction works on all platforms will be finished in November this year. Renovation of the following platforms is still to be accomplished: 3a – renovation will finish in mid-June; 3 – renovation will last until the end of July; 1 – works will be carried out until the end of August; and 5 – works will finish on 20 November. Buildings on platforms 1, 2 and 3 will be demolished. Demolition works on the platforms will last until mid-October.
The passenger tunnel, in which the structure has been strengthened and facing panes have been replaced, is ready. The new railway station in Bydgoszcz together with the accompanying infrastructure will be ready in November 2015.

The contract with PKP SA for the construction of the first stage of the Integrated Communication Centre in Bydgoszcz was signed on 28 May 2014.
The works include:

  • demolition of colliding buildings,
  • conversion of two historic buildings,
  • construction of a four-storey building for trade, service and office purposes as well as for passengers,
  • construction of a car park and conversion of the railway infrastructure, including platforms, tracks and traction power network.
