Suwałki are going to have a ring road

On 12 August 2015 the Białystok Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced the selection of the Budimex bid for the design and construction of a ring road for Suwałki. The value of the bid amounts to PLN 243.5 million net.
The ring road for Suwałki will be joined to the Augustów ring road put into operation last year, which was also built by Budimex. The new road will be 12.8 km long and of the two roadway express road standard (S61, two roadways with two traffic lanes each). The ring road will bypass the town from the west and the north.
The scope of the works includes:

  • construction of the missing links at the South Suwałki junction,
  • construction of a West Suwałki junction, including the construction and expansion of transverse roads,
  • construction of the link of the North Suwałki junction,
  • expansion of existing roads and reconstruction of existing routes crossing road S61 that is being built,
  • construction of engineering structures within the express road and flyovers within reconstructed transverse roads and a railway line.

Budimex will have 34 months to complete the project, counting from the date of signing the contract (excluding winter periods – from 15 December to 15 March).
