Hospital in Oleśnica has a "Parent Zone"

The “Parent Zone” opening ceremony was attended by Wojciech Kociński, the Starost of Oleśnica, and Piotr Karasek, his deputy. The hospital in Oleśnica was represented by Piotr Rogalski, the Deputy Director for Medical Affairs and Restructuring, and Budimex was represented by Krzysztof Kozioł, the Communications Office Director.

- While executing the programme, each edition of it, we realize how important it is, in Polish hospitals, to create suitable, comfortable and friendly spaces for the parents of sick children. I am also highly impressed by the commitment of our employees, who voluntarily participated in decorating the renovated hospital interiors – said Krzysztof Kozioł, the Communications Office Director at Budimex, during the opening ceremony of the common room.

The children's unit of the hospital in Oleśnica hosts approx. 1,300 young patients a year, and they stay there for 3–4 days on average. Visiting children by the parents is not limited in time, however a longer stay at the hospital requires specific conditions.

For three years now, Budimex has been executing the “Strefa Rodzica. Budimex Dzieciom (Parent Zone. Budimex for Children)” programme, thanks to which functional facilities are created in Polish hospitals that allow the youngest patients and their caregivers to spend time together. So far, such zones have been created in Białystok, Lublin, Katowice, Łódź, Poznań, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Krakow, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Sanok, Bełchatów, Olsztyn, Jędrzejów and Bogatynia.

“Strefa Rodzica. Budimex Dzieciom” is a Poland-wide social programme carried out and fully financed by Budimex. It aims at creating spaces in hospitals that will meet the requirements of both parents and young patients. The programme promotes the idea of caregivers who stay and accompany their children at the hospital while they fight the disease, which actually shortens the child’s recovery time. The action was inspired by similar zones in the United States and Western Europe.
