33rd Parent Zone to be built at the Municipal Mother and Child Centre in Piotrków Trybunalski
The first Parent Zone to be opened this year will be in Piotrków Trybunalski! The Children's Ward, where more than a thousand young patients are hospitalized every year, has been selected for the “Parent Zone social programme. Budimex for Children”. In just a few weeks, a space where young patients and their carers can spend time together will be created in the ward.
“Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” – a nationwide social project run and fully financed by Budimex SA which aims to create special zones in the children's wards of Polish hospitals. Friendly zones for parents and young patients. The results of scientific research show that the constant presence of a child’s parent at the bedside during hospitalization gives a sense of security, reduces stress and shortens the hospitalization process by up to 30%, which significantly reduces the recovery time.
The Children's Ward of the Municipal Mother and Child Centre in Piotrków Trybunalski is the only one that provides full paediatric care and as well as all-day and 24-hour medical services for the inhabitants of the Piotrków Trybunalski Municipality.
“We know how important the Municipal Mother and Child Centre is for the local community. We want to ensure a comfortable stay in the Children's Ward for the children and their parents. Each Parent Zone is tailor-designed. The Zone created at the hospital in Piotrków Trybunalski will perfectly combine the hospital's expectations with the real needs of young patients and their carers,” says Katarzyna Wójcik, coordinator of social programmes at Budimex.
The design work is currently underway. According to the preliminary assumptions, the existing common room, its corridor and partial kitchen will be converted into the Parent Zone.
Construction work will start as early as this month. The 33rd Parent Zone is scheduled to open in April, after Easter. As usual, volunteers from Budimex will participate in the final stage of the building work and help finish the rooms. The Zone opening ceremony will be attended by patients and their carers, hospital representatives, local authorities, media representatives and guests.
