Although volatile compounds released from typical hot bitumen used in the production of bituminous mixtures are not harmful to humans, they are characterised by a specific smell. This is why Budimex and LOTOS Asfalt have produced a mixture that smells of... flowers.

On 12 August 2021, Budimex SA and Mostostal Kraków SA signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the Polish refining, petrochemical, energy and infrastructure markets with Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd SA Branch in Poland.

On Monday, 9 August 2021, the Ostrów Mazowiecka – Szczuczyn S61 expressway was officially opened for the section: Stawiski junction (without the junction) – beginning of the Szczuczyn bypass, a length of about 18 km, with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk and others. Budimex completed the works and obtained the occupancy permit for the main route of the S61 on 15 July 2021.

Under the European project LIFE CLEANAIRMM (LIFE18 ENV/DE/000054), Budimex SA has started working with the German-Finnish start-up Instagrid GmbH, which manufactures portable batteries for powering construction equipment. Power banks replace combustion power generators. Their application is aimed at developing emission-free construction technologies.

On 4 August 2021, the opening of National Road No 12 in Chełm took place. The contract, the general contractor of which is Budimex, was carried out in the 'design and build' mode. This investment is of great importance for the improvement of the infrastructure and road safety in the city.

On 3 August 2021, Budimex – the general contractor of the 61 km long Strachocina – Polish Border gas pipeline has connected the Polish section of the new gas pipeline with its extension on the Slovak side by means of the so-called 'golden joint'.

On 29 July 2021, an agreement was officially signed in connection with the offer of Budimex S.A. selected by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Gdańsk as the most favourable one in the public procurement procedure for the construction of the S6 dual carriageway between Słupsk and Bożepole Wielkie. Task 5: in. Leśnice (without a junction) - in. Bożepole Wielkie (without a junction).

'We are very pleased with the results of the Budimex Group in the first half of 2021. Despite difficult market conditions, we recorded a significant increase in the Group’s gross profit within continuing operations (i.e. construction and service operations) from PLN 91 million in the first half of 2020 to PLN 260 million in the first half of 2021 with a simultaneous increase in profitability from 2.6% to 8.0%' – says Artur Popko – President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

Budimex, aiming to increase flexibility and full independence in the execution of contracts in the segment of track works and construction of an overhead line, plans to purchase new equipment fully adapted to operate on Polish tracks. Budimex's machine park will be enriched with new tamping machines, welders, a pilot, a locomotive and trolleys, as well as several dozen specialist wagons. In total, Budimex will have over 80 units of rolling stock and track machines. The investment in new equipment will cost PLN 129 million.

On 20 July 2021, at the constructed Zegrze Pomorskie junction of the new S11 expressway, Budimex, together with contractors of other sections of the road, inaugurated the construction of the S11 – a 40-kilometre-long road from Koszalin to Babolice.

From 20 July, the traffic organisation on the section of the future expressway 261 Stawiski – Szczuczyn will change. Vehicles will be diverted to the already finished roadways of the S61. The change is technical and related to the next stage of road works. There will be a 70 km/h speed limit.

The Management Board of Budimex S.A., in order to maintain proper communication with the Company’s stakeholders and in compliance with the Best Practice for GPW Listed Companies 2021, invites to a meeting intended to summarise Budimex Group’s Q2 2021 financial results and discuss the current condition of the market.

Aleksander Węgierko Dramatic Theatre in Białystok and Budimex SA concluded a contract for the modernisation of a historic building of the theatre. The project is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2023.

On July 6, a ceremonial wreath was hung at a toping out ceremony on the eighth floor of the Specialist Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin, executed by Budimex. This is a sign that construction has reached its peak. The wreath was hung on the LPR helipad at the top of the hospital under construction. It was placed on a special attachment by a 50-metre crane.

On July 1, 2021, at the Marshal’s Office of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship in Olsztyn, Budimex signed a contract with the Voivodeship Roads Authority for the extension of voivodeship road no. 527 on the Łukta – Olsztyn section. The contract was signed as a construct only contract.

Budimex has signed a contract for the construction of the Administration Center in Ciechanów. The contract will be carried out in the “construct only” formula with turnkey equipment for the building. The investor is the Self-Government of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and the County Office in Ciechanów.
